Hydrology - Watershed Modelling

  • Overview

  • Snow Pack Condition Determination
Snow pack conditions are determined in part by water content determination. The sensitivity of radar to variations in moisture content potentially results in contrasting backscatter.

RADARSAT beam mode - Snow pack condition information can be acquired using the Standard beam mode.

RADARSAT incidence angle - Roughness effects, which are the dominant factor affecting radar backscatter, are minimized at steep angles. Steep incidence angles maximize the contrast in backscatter received from variations in snow water content.

    Look direction - N/A

When to acquire RADARSAT data - N/A
