LANDSAT 7 was launched in May of 1999 with all the capabilities of LANDSAT 5 plus two additional
bands. LANDSAT 7 is equpped with a second Thermal band and a 15m Panchromatic band.
LANDSAT 7 is also equipped with an on-board recorder. The SLC( Scan Line Corrector ) of LANDSAT 7
failed on May 31 and there are processing algorithms in place to save as much of the data
as possible.
