MDA introduces Pictometry, an advanced oblique aerial imaging system that allows clients to access up to 20 different views of a location or feature of interest. Pictometry’s easy-to-use software lets clients measure distances, heights, areas, and widths of objects directly from each Intelligent Image®.
Unlike traditional straight-down orthophotos, Pictometry’s high-resolution, digital aerial images are primarily oblique – taken at an angle for a 3D-like view. This presents the visual information in a way that is easier to interpret and in a more familiar manner for people to use. Combined with Pictometry’s measuring software, you can view, examine and analyze your environment in an exciting and powerful new way.

Canadian City Image Libraries
Using Pictometry’s proprietary aerial imaging system, MDA is collecting and populating Image Libraries for Canadian cities. When viewed using Pictometry’s custom visualization software, these data provide MDA’s clients with up to 20 different georeferenced views of a location or feature of interest at a resolution as high as 15 cm.

Viewing Software
Pictometry’s easy-to-use measuring software, Electronic Field Study™ (EFS) is included with each image dataset giving you access to a wide range of viewing and measuring capabilities. The unique viewing and analysis capability of the software provides users with detailed information such as feature dimensions (e.g. height, width and area) and feature proximity making it a powerful planning tool.
